Purpose: To establish a procedure to return the equipment back in service after an incident, and to distribute the duties in a fair manner. Once everything is back in service, then we can consider the incident secured.

Responsibility: All members are responsible to see that the equipment, trucks, and station are made ready for the next incident. The ranking officer will be responsible for assigning members duties and assuring all duties are carried out properly. The truck drivers are responsible to get their trucks back in service and that all equipment has been replace properly. The ranking officer will also excuse members to return to work if the member is not able to stay.

If a firefighter needs to leave before the incident is secured: Firefighters shall tell the incident commander and then the staging officer that he needs to leave, this is for accountability. This procedure should be followed up until the time that the incident is secured.
